Music is Lisa’s pleasure, her comfort zone and her means of connecting with others. She has been writing songs since the age of 13 and can pick up tunes by ear in moments. Her set is a mix of pop, modern country, originals and a range of artists from mainstream to niche.
Just turned 17, the last three years have been about gaining confidence as an entertainer. Performances in front of thousands at St Mirren FC and on the ice at the Braehead Clan Arena have helped, as have four hour solo sets in various shopping malls, cafes and bars, busking at the request of the SFA for the Scotland fans at Hampden, her first festivals in Summer 2016 (Pandorafest and Mugstock) and numerous charity and community events.
While Lisa loves live performance, it is important to emphasise her knack for song writing, which has given her opportunity to collaborate with a number of established Scottish musicians, including James Grant ( Love and Money) and Savage Cut, the Livingston based post punk band. James Grant commented that she showed great poise and maturity as a songwriter. Her collaboration single with Savage Cut, “Stand” will be released imminently and with its anti-oppression and anti-discrimination message is very relevant to current times. She has another vocal project lined up with a well-known Scottish band, although details cannot be made public just now.
Lisa has received a grant and lots of ongoing support from the Paisley 2021 City of Culture bid to record an EP of original songs, due to be released shortly and is already thinking about work on an album later this year.
Lisa (a big fan of Taylor Swift) understands that you have to make your own opportunities, which led her to organise a “Ten Years of Taylor Swift” event in August 2016, which was a great success. Further details can be found on the event web site www.tenyearsoftaylorswift.co.uk . A second show took place in Edinburgh in January and artists are clamouring to take part in the next one. The show provides performance and earnings for a number of other talented musicians and technicians.
