Robin Adams is a folk singer songwriter from Glasgow, Scotland. Shortly after winning The Billy Kelly Songwriting Award in 2009, he kicked off his recording career with the release of his stunning debut Down To Reverie, which achieved glowing reviews. Building on the momentum of his debut, he released his second album ‘Be Gone’ in 2011 which was met with nation wide critical acclaim – Q Magazine **** “Strummed ruminations worthy of John Martyn” – The Skinny **** “Subtly stunning”- Is This Music ***** “Sublime!”.
After a long spell of ill health causing Robin to withdraw from the live circuit, he remained active in the studio, recording many albums during his period of prolonged illness. He was awarded the Emerging Excellence Award by Help Musicians UK in 2015. This helped fund his next release, The Garden, which saw him compared by numerous music publications to past masters such as Nick Drake and Bert Jansch for it’s complex guitar arrangements and stunning song craft. In his most recent effort, Adams started a collaborative project called ‘REFUGEE’, which focussed on raising money for the ongoing Migrant crises. Testament to a growing respect among the upper echelons of the folk world, Adams worked together with Bonnie Prince Billy, Alasdair Roberts, Richard Dawson, Linda Thompson and many more to produce a stunning body of work made up of original contributions from each of the artists involved.
‘Refugee’ marked the end of a long period of ill health and personal turmoil for Robin and he has since made enough of a recovery to return to the live circuit with a new backing band, including David Bowden on double bass, who was recently awarded young jazz musician of the year. With a new releases on the horizon and many shows planned around the UK and Europe, the future promises a full return to the spotlight for Robin Adams.
